Where MSEP works

The counties around Cincinnati, and farther out for the right business.

Most of the work is within reach of downtown Cincinnati, on both sides of the river.

In Ohio: Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties. In Kentucky: Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. In Indiana: Dearborn County.

For the right opportunity, MSEP also works farther out in Ohio, including the Dayton area (Montgomery County) and the Columbus area (Franklin County).

Businesses MSEP works with

Established companies with an operating history, typically in the $1M to $10M range.

The owner is usually still in the business day to day, and is thinking about a sale in the next few years.

MSEP specializes in distribution, chemical and light manufacturing, and construction and the trades, including electrical, HVAC and plumbing. It also works with owner-led businesses in other industries.

If your business is smaller than that, reach out anyway. A first conversation will show whether MSEP is the right fit.

Startups and businesses without a few years of results are usually not a fit. Buyers and their lenders want a track record to review.

Before you call

A sale goes better when the owner knows what to expect.

The five stages of a business exit lays out the whole path, from deciding to sell to life after closing. How to sell your business confidentially covers what happens before anyone learns the business is for sale.

Owners who are a few years out usually start with exit readiness.

Common questions

What Cincinnati owners ask first.

Do business brokers need a license in Ohio?

Ohio doesn't require a license to broker the sale of business assets alone. When a sale includes an interest in real estate, such as the building or the lease, the person brokering it must hold an Ohio real estate license. Grady Collins is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Ohio, and business and real estate transactions are brokered by eXp Commercial, LLC. For commercial real estate on its own, see Cincinnati Small Bay.

Do you work outside Greater Cincinnati?

Yes, for the right business. Most of the work is in the counties around Cincinnati, and Main Street Exit Partners also takes on businesses farther out in Ohio, including Dayton and Columbus.

How does the process start?

With a Confidential Exit Readiness Assessment, a private conversation about your goals, your timeline and where the business stands. It doesn't put the business on the market.

Start with readiness

Thinking about selling in the next few years?

You don't need to have everything figured out. Start with a private conversation about where things stand and what buyers are likely to care about.

Your inquiry is handled confidentially. MSEP won't contact employees, customers, competitors, lenders, vendors, landlords, or potential buyers without your authorization.
